Sylphie (シルフィー Shirufii?) is a character from Forgotten Worlds. She appears as playable character in Namco x Capcom and an NPC and shopkeeper in Project X Zone 2.

History[]

Sylphie is best known as the shopkeeper who sold items, weapons, armor, and even hints on how to defeat the stage bosses to the two unnamed super soldiers in Forgotten Worlds. Sylphie's shop is found in certain locations in each stage, and once entered, the player has a limited amount of time to purchase goods. Along with the two nameless warriors, Sylphie also fought alongside Reiji, Xiaomu and the others in Namco x Capcom while still taking the time to occasionally do business with the party, albeit in her own shrewd way. Many of her attacks and her finishing move are lifted from other Capcom titles, such as Pirate Ship Higemaru and Alien vs. Predator.

Crosspedia Entry[]

A famous weapons dealer among space warriors. She once assisted two nameless warriors who battled against Emperor Bios, the God of Destruction, by providing them with weapons, medicines, and enemy information.

After the warriors defeated the emperor, she worked to restore the land, Dust World, that had been left in ruins.

She's famous for her mysterious affinity for commerce that allows her to suddenly set up shop even in a raging battlefield.

She's a strong-willed and determined businessperson who has been known to sell her own clothes if they will fetch a high price. If it meant extra sales, she'd even change her name if it came down to it. (And it has.)

Theme[]

Sylphie's theme is "Stage 1" from Forgotten Worlds.

Trivia[]

  • The equipment item, Sylphie's Dress, is actually an item from the Japanese version of Forgotten Worlds (known as Lost Worlds). In much the same manner as Project X Zone 2, the dress was the most expensive item in the arcade title, selling for 99,900 zenny; however, its only function was to grant the player one million bonus points upon beating the game. The dress was removed from the U.S. version of the game due to the fact Sylphie comments on the player being naughty for actually purchasing her own clothes, something that was deemed unacceptable in 1988. The fact Sylphie's Dress costs 999,000 Gold in Project X Zone 2 cements this otherwise unfamiliar reference.
  • In Project X Zone 2 Chapter 7, Sylphie says she will stay in a safe place so her weakness won't be a liability, and Demitri says he could've sworn he saw her hold her own in battle once, referring to her appearance in Namco X Capcom.
    • In the same chapter, Zero says "When we got the call from Mira--I mean Sylphie". This is a reference to her name being changed to Mirabella in the U.S. Genesis version of Forgotten Worlds.
  • Sylphie and Tarosuke are the only characters who were playable in Namco X Capcom but were demoted to NPCs in Project X Zone 2.
