Overview

"Eternal Rivals" is the fourteenth and nineteenth overall chapter in Project X Zone. Two solo units, Flynn and Devilotte join the party. This also marks the first encounter with a demon of Makai, Shielder. Mettaur C-15s, Hammer Golems, Outbreakers, and Jaunes first appear here.

Synopsis

Area: Alternate Past, Randgriz Castle

In front of a giant castle, a knight manages to fend off some foes while protecting what appears to be a princess. The man introduces himself as Flynn Scifo of the Imperial Knights. The princess returns the favor by making a long introduction of herself: Princess Devilotte de Deathsatan IX. After some chatting, more visitors appear. Yuri immediately recognizes his old friend as well as Estelle. Estelle was relived to see that Flynn was alright, seeing as he hadn't made contact for a while.

During his investigation, he ran into this castle while Devilotte simply stepped out of her home and suddenly wound up here. Riela remembers this place: Randgriz Castle, the capital of Gallia. Kurt is a little suspicious though, as the castle courtyard is empty: no soldiers manning the defensive line, not to mention it was eerily quiet.

Suddenly, a giant monster appears from the front gate: a Shielder, guardian of the land of ghosts and goblins. With the demon world connected to the past, war was the least of Kurt's concerns right now. Devilotte says that she is from the Helldorado space colony, revealing she comes from the future. They also realize that half their friends are missing.

Before they begin searching, they decide to take care of the enemy squad first. As they make their way up the battlefield, Ciseaux appears and also brings his steam beast platoon and Hammer Golems from Terca Lumireis. But more surprising is that he also brought Feydooms from The World. It seems they took some kind of route to get here, according to Neito. Adephagos were also there, and they were thought to be gone for good according to Yuri and Estelle. It seems boundaries are starting to cross over, but there's no time to figure out why. It was time to get the mission started: Destroy all hostiles!

After dismantling Prelude, Ciseaux manages to retreat after revealing his alliance with Oros Phlox.

With the Shielder defeated, everyone decides to head through the door to the connected demon realm. Kurt vows to return to the true Gallia someday as everyone heads into the gate.

• This chapter introduces Mega Man X and Cyberbots to the Cross series. For Mega Man X, this is only with enemies.
  • Mega Man X is the second franchise to have done this in this game. The first being Ghosts n' Goblins, where Red Arremers appear in Prologue 2 despite Arthur appearing later in Prologue 4.
• Randgriz Castle is the newest location in Project X Zone that isn't an original stage.
• This is the first chapter in Project X Zone where the party splits up.
