An ex-cop and martial artist who loves video games. He is best friends with Adam Hunter, Blaze Fielding and Max "Thunder" Hatchett and gets along well with Eddie "Skate" Hunter. It is unknown when, but as a strong martial artist training, he comes to know Shiva is his rival with evil intentions.

Policeman and master of martial arts. When he learned that even the police force had been corrupted by the massive criminal syndicate ruling over his city, he resigned in disgust. Along with his partners Blaze and Adam, he vowed to take down the syndicate using only his body as a weapon.
The leader of the syndicate, Mr. X, manged to survive this assault and launched a new plot, but this too was crushed by Axel and his comrades.
Axel has an impulsive personality, leading him to provoke his enemies. However, he's a passionate defender of justice, and he despises seeing innocent people fall victim to the ambitions of criminals. Now he's back in the police force as a member of the special criminal investigation force.
